Some background is necessary here, so stay with me.
There is an important legal proceeding in which a Frisco resident won court authorization to obtain information about a group of people who defamed her and wrongfully claim to be transparent whistleblowers. I’ll get into specifics on that in a follow up post.
What Court Documents Revealed
A January 2026 court hearing resulted in striking evidence, including a text message from early 2025 that places Brittany Colberg, currently running for Frisco City Council Place 6, and her husband Erich, directly involved with one of the most underhanded political schemes I have ever seen in Frisco politics.
That text discussed how to weaponize a secret recording against a council member to influence the May 2025 election. The fact that the secret recording was made by then Council Candidate Sangita Datta is another issue that I will address separately. What matters in this case is not just that the recording existed, but WHO was involved in strategizing about how to use it.
Here is exactly what the text message shows:
- It is an exchange between current Councilman Brian Livingston and Chris Fields.
- Brian forwards Chris a text from “The Colbergs.”
- Not “Brittany.” Not “Erich.” The Colbergs, plural. Both of them.
- Chris confirms he received the same message from “them”, detailing how to use the secret recordings against a sitting council candidate.
This is not speculation. This is actual documentation from court proceedings. The text establishes a direct connection between the secret recordings and both Brittany and Erich Colberg acting together.
I Asked Brittany Directly
Because transparency matters, especially from people seeking elected office, I sat down with Brittany Colberg on Wednesday March 18th. We discussed many things, but this was a specific questions I asked:
“Is it true that this text message exists about how to use the secret recordings?”
She looked me straight in the eyes and said: “I did not send that text.”
Notice the precision of that answer. Not “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Not “that text doesn’t exist.” Just: “I did not send that text.”
That is a carefully worded non-denial. And here is why it doesn’t hold up.
The text was sent from “The Colbergs.” That is not a person. That is a household. A unit. Whether Brittany’s finger hit send or Erich’s did is irrelevant. The text came from their shared identity, as the court records confirm.
More importantly: Erich Colberg has since filed with the courts specifically attempting to suppress that text and keep it from public view.
The first filing was on Feb 3rd, before I met with Brittany. The second filing was on April 1st, after I met with her. Here is the court record. I have copies of the motions via a public record request with the county clerk.
That single fact destroys any claim of innocence.
You do not file legal paperwork to hide something that doesn’t exist. You do not spend money on court filings to bury evidence your family had nothing to do with. The filing itself is the admission, and it directly and completely contradicts what Brittany said to my face.
She was given every opportunity to simply say: “Yes, that text exists, and here’s our side of it.” She chose instead to hide behind a technicality while her husband worked behind the scenes to keep the truth buried.
That is not a misunderstanding. That is not a technicality. That is deception, deflection, and refusing to own their actions when caught.
The Bottom Line
Frisco voters deserve elected officials who lead with honesty, not ones who parse their words carefully to avoid accountability while their lawyers work to bury the evidence.
Brittany Colberg was caught. She was given a simple, direct opportunity to tell the truth. She didn’t take it.
That tells you everything you need to know.
A city council seat is not a throne for kings and queens. It is a seat of public trust, earned through transparency, integrity, and the courage to own your actions even when it’s uncomfortable.
If she won’t tell the truth now, she won’t tell it later.
Don’t give liars a seat at the table. Frisco deserves better.
